Modi said Chinese President Xi Jinping told him the two leaders shared a personal bond. Prime Minister Modi said on the podcast that he lived in Gujarats Vadnagar, which was visited by Chinese philosopher Hiuen Tsang (Xuanzang).
I read somewhere that the Chinese philosopher Hiuen Tsang had been living in Vadnagar for some time and that a film was being made about his travels. This prompted me to write to the Chinese embassy and request them to also feature our village in the film, Modi said.
Later, when I became Prime Minister in 2014, I started receiving calls from various world leaders. Among them was Chinese President Xi Jinping, he said.
Prime Minister Modi revealed that during his conversation with Xi Jinping, the Chinese President sought to visit Gujarat. I said it was great. But Xi then said he wanted to visit Gujarats Vadnagar. I was intrigued that he made such a detailed plan. He then told me that you and I share a special relationship, PM Modi said in the podcast.
PM Modi added that when he asked Xi about his project, Xi told him: Hiuen Tsang lived in your village for the longest period during his travels to India. And when he came back to China, he lived in my village. This is our connection, PM Modi quoted Jinping as saying.

Modi said he believed that good peopleshould continue to enter politics, and that too with a mission and not an ambition.
Becoming a politician is one thing and succeeding in politics is another… I believe that for that you need dedication, commitment, you have to be there for the people and you have to be a good player of team. If you consider yourself above all else, thinking that everyone will follow you, maybe his policies will work and he will win the election, but there is no guarantee that he will be a successful politician… Modi said.
If you see, all our loyal leaders, at the beginning, came from the independence movement. Their thinking, their maturity are different… Their words, their behavior… everything reflects total dedication to society. So, I believe that good people should continue to enter politics and that too with a mission, not ambition…

Delving into his early days, PM Modi presented himself as an ordinary student more inclined towards extracurricular activities than academics. He fondly remembers a teacher, Bheljibhai Chaudhary, who recognized his potential and encouraged him to concentrate. Discussing his childhood friends, he revealed that after becoming the chief minister, he tried to reconnect with them. However, he found that their perception of him had changed; they now saw him as a political figure rather than the friend they once knew, a realization that left him longing for the simplicity of past relationships.
