Govt's tactics to keep Imran behind bars backfired: Qaiser – Journal

SWABI: PTI central leader and former National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser on Friday said the best option for the federal government was to immediately release his party's incarcerated founder Imran Khan as its tactics to being held behind bars had backfired.

He told Dawn at the district council meeting hall that it was a good sign that the government had started negotiations with the PTI.

He said the entire nation knew that the Federal Government's policy had backfired and been totally rejected by the people.

Mr Qaiser said the government faced a dilemma: the longer it kept Imran Khan in prison, the more his popularity grew.

He said the government should accept the reality and release him as soon as possible to strengthen democracy and ensure the development of the people.

The PTI leader said that since the incarceration of Imran Khan last year, the PTI had adopted a politics of protest, while the relations between the government and the PTI were deteriorating and the politics of confrontation had reached extremes. alarming proportions, creating a shocking scenario.
