New Delhi: In his first podcast appearance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi joined Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath for a conversation published on Friday. Discussing India's global technological prowess, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the country's success in democratizing technology, saying India has set an example for the world to follow.
“In just thirty seconds, I can transfer money to the accounts of 100 million farmers. I can do the same for bottle subsidies for 13 million people in 30 seconds… India has learned to the world how to democratize technology. All you need is a mobile. It's a technology-driven century. We have created an innovation commission and an innovation fund.
Modi reflected on India's growing global stature. He remembers predicting a future in which the world would queue up to get an Indian visa. Modi shared the anecdote of the time he was chief minister of Gujarat and was denied a US visa.
“As head of state, America denied me a visa. I held a press conference that day where I said: 'One day the world will queue up for a visa Indian”. I made this statement in 2005. Now “it is 2025. I see this is the time for India… I used to say publicly that you (NRI) will regret if you do not return to India, the world is changing,” PM Modi said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared his experiences and views on the future of India during a recent interaction. Recalling a visit to Kuwait, he spoke of a meeting with an Indian worker who asked him: “When will there be an international airport in my district?” Modi said such aspirations reflect the driving force that will shape a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
Addressing global conflicts, the Prime Minister emphasized that India's position is not one of neutrality but one of promoting peace. “During the Ukraine crisis, we were not neutral. We are pro-peace,” he said, adding that this stance has enhanced India's global credibility.
He noted that India's advice to conflicting countries, namely Russia, Ukraine, Iran, Palestine and Israel, has been approved. “They trust us. That's why India's credibility has increased… the world has confidence in what we say,” he said.
