Boris Johnson called Vladimir Putin a “f***ing idiot” in a television interview and said the Russian leader needs to understand his country's empire is “finished.”
Former British Prime Minister speaking to Estonian journalist during interview for Eesti Ekspress on January 9. The news site has now shared a clip including Mr Johnson's strong assessment.
Asked about Putin's illegal attack on Ukraine and threats against the Baltics, Mr Johnson said: “What Putin is doing is archaic and barbaric, and he must understand that Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania . None of these countries are part of the Russian Empire. no more, and neither does Ukraine.
“It's over, over, over, over, no more empire Vladimir, you stupid fucking king, excuse my language.”
Mr Johnson was the first Western leader to visit Ukraine after Russia's illegal invasion in February 2022 to offer support to the country and President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Mr Johnson has become something of a hero to the Ukrainian people and the former prime minister enjoys close relations with President Zelenksy.
A street in a town near Odessa in southern Ukraine was renamed from Mayakovsky Street to Boris Johnson Street in his honor just weeks after the Russian invasion.
A Council spokesperson said at the time: The UK Prime Minister is one of the strongest opponents of the Russian invasion, a leader on sanctions against Russia and support for defense to Ukraine.
