He asked the court to grant him bail after his arrest, saying the case against him was unfair. The legal action comes after the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) rejected his bail plea in eight May 9 cases, including the Jinnah House attack.

Khan criticized the ATC's decision, saying the rejection of his bail applications was not consistent with the facts. His sister, Aleema Khanum, also spoke out, revealing that Imran Khan had decided to take his case to the International Human Rights Organization (IHRO). Speaking to reporters outside Adiala prison, Aleema Khan accused authorities of preventing Imran from communicating with his children and doctor, calling the treatment “torture.”

She further claimed that no court was willing to hear their petitions, leaving them with no choice but to resort to international intervention.

Aleema Khan also mentioned that their family was receiving threats and warnings. She said: “We have taken responsibility as a family,” highlighting the family's determination to fight against what they see as unjust political persecution.

Additionally, she noted that Imran Khan had laughed during the press conference of Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Political Affairs, in response to her statements.

The May 9, 2023 violence erupted following the arrest of Imran Khan, leading to widespread protests by PTI supporters across Pakistan. Protests took place in major cities and remote areas, with PTI workers expressing anger over the arrest. The protests turned violent, with attacks on military installations, including the corps commander's house in Lahore. Following the unrest, armed forces were called in to restore order in Balochistan, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
