Former PWNU Chairman Riau and PDIP politician Rusli Ahmad names his son Jokowi
RIAU (RA) – Former Chairman of the Regional Directorate Nadhalatul Ulama (PWNU) of Riau Province, now a politician of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), made a surprise by welcoming the birth of his son, Saturday (11 /1 /25).
Rusli is known for naming his third child Jokowi, which is the nickname of former Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Uniquely, Rusli even deliberately printed shirts that read “Jokowi bin Rusli Ahmad”. A photo of him holding his baby was also posted on social media.
Rusli, who once expressed his support for Prabowo Subianto, admitted that he was very inspired by the figure of Joko Widodo.
“He is an inspiring figure, he does not have a family of police officers or civil servants, but he can become president, that is what inspires us all,” he said on Sunday (12/1/25 ).
By naming his son Jokowi, Rusli hopes that his son can become a leader in the future.
For information, Rusli Ahmad previously served as a member of the Riau DPRD of the PDIP for the Riau 3 Rokan Hulu electoral district (dapil). In PDIP, Rusli Ahmad also served as chairman of Banteng Muda Indonesia (BMI).
Apart from this, he also served as President of PWNU under the leadership of Said Aqil Siradj and President of Central NU Santri Tani.
