Carrie Johnson hospitalized: Boris Johnson's wife treated for flu and pneumonia

Carrie Johnsonthe wife of former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, was hospitalized with a “nasty lung infection”.

Carrie, 36 years oldshared an update on social media alongside a photo showing her lying on a hospital bed.

“I didn't expect to spend the first week of 2025 in hospital“, she began her message.

“After having a nasty chest infection for almost 18 days at home over Christmas, it got out of control and I was struggling to breathe properly.

“The hospital confirmed that I had the flu and pneumonia. I was there for almost a week and I still haven't recovered.

“It might be a few more weeks before I feel like myself again.”

She described doctors and nurses in the NHS (National Health Service) as “the best people in the world”.

“I say this often, but they took care of me and my family when we needed it most and I will never be more than grateful to them,” she shared.

“They are the best of us. I was at the John Radcliffe and I can't thank them enough.

“When I was particularly depressed, a nurse even serenaded me by my bed. Incredible kindness.”

She ended her message by telling her followers to obviously “check with your doctor, but my advice is to get your flu shot.”

“I really, really wish I had. It totally got away from me this year. No guarantees, but I most likely wouldn't have spent the last 3 weeks horribly, horribly sick if I had had it,” she lamented.

While the first photo shows her feet in the hospital bed, the second shows a treasure from her son Wilf, her “favorite dinosaur toy 'Greenie'” as well as her daughter Romy's “princess keychain.”

The children each gave her an item to take with her to the hospital.

Carrie said the objects “lived by my bedside.”

“Health and family are paramount,” she added.

Carrie and Boris Johnson are parents to three children Wilfred, five, Romy, three, and Frank, one.

Boris has eight children in total, including four children with his ex-wife Marina and a daughter from another relationship.

The couple married in 2021.

Boris Johnson served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and leader of the Conservative Party from 2019 to 2022.

Since leaving office, the couple have settled into their home Brightwell Manor, a Grade II listed house in Oxfordshire.

Carrie shared several posts with her kids over the Christmas and New Year holidays, including trips to Morocco and Easter Island in Chile.
