Politics makes him addictive, Jokowi's joining the party is only a matter of time

Suara.com – Jamiluddin Ritonga, a political communications analyst from Esa Unggul University, believes that the seventh president of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, is just waiting for the moment to join a political party.

This was conveyed by Jamiluddin after the issue of Jokowi joining the Golkar Party continued to be raised.

“For Jokowi, someone who has been in the party for a long time is certainly not comfortable without a party. Jokowi, as a politician, will definitely feel that something is missing if he does not join the party,” Jamiluddin told Suara.com, Thursday (16/1/2025).

“Plus, politics is often like an addiction. Therefore, the element of dependency will be very strong. Jokowi will feel that he is missing something if he does not engage in politics,” he continued.

He said that based on this, Jokowi felt the need to join a party to satisfy his addiction. Only then can his addiction be satisfied.

Apart from that, joining Jokowi's party is not just for him. He needs a big party to protect his children and his daughter-in-law.

“Therefore, the opportunity for Jokowi to join Golkar is very open. Of course, he will do it if his political calculations are profitable for himself, his son and his son-in-law,” he said.

“But if Golkar is deemed politically unprofitable, then Jokowi will join another party. It could be the PSI or he could even form his own party,” he continued.

Finally, he said, only Jokowi's party can realize his political ambitions and addictions.

“Therefore, for Jokowi, joining a party is only a matter of time. For this, he could go to Golkar or PSI or form a new party,” he concluded.

Previously, rumors circulated among the media that the seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo or Jokowi, would join the Golkar Party through the community organization that founded the party.

Jokowi was reportedly announced to join the Golkar mass organization, namely the Mutual Cooperation Family Deliberation (MKGR), on Wednesday (15/1/2025) this afternoon.

In response to this, Golkar Party General Secretary M Sarmuji admitted that he had not heard anything about it.

“I haven’t heard,” Sarmuji said when confirmed Suara.com, Wednesday (15/1/2025).

He admitted that he would confirm the news to Adies Kadir as general chairman of MKGR.

“Later I will ask Mr. Adis, General Chairman of MKGR,” he said.

Previously, General Chairman of the Golkar Party Bahlil Lahadalia emphasized that the party he leads is inclusive and therefore it is open to everyone. Joko Widodo or Jokowi is no exception, who was officially dismissed from PDIP.

“Golkar is very inclusive. Golkar is open to all children of the nation who want to serve themselves through politics across parties. So Golkar is very inclusive,” said Bahlil at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta, Monday (16 /12/2024).

Nevertheless, when asked about Jokowi's chances of joining Golkar, Bahlil stressed that he was still monitoring developments. Including the possibility of Jokowi's son and son-in-law Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Bobby Nasution joining Beringin, Bahlil left the decision up to each of them.

Bahlil responded to the attitude of other parties open to Jokowi's membership. According to him, this attitude cannot be separated from the figure of Jokowi.

“Yes, every party certainly wants to invite potential figures. Pak Jokowi is a former president. He must have something, the sympathy of many people, the support of many people. Yes, we will see,” said Bahlil.

However, when asked, is there a desire and hope for Jokowi, Gibran and Bobby to join Golkar? Bahlil responded normatively.
