Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said the 8th Pay Commission will “improve quality of life and boost consumption”. This comes a day after the Union Cabinet approved the decision to set up the Pay Commission in 2026.
He also acknowledged the efforts of government employees who are “working towards building a Viksit Bharat”.
“We are all proud of the efforts of all government employees working towards building a Viksit Bharat. Cabinet decision on 8th Pay Commission will improve quality of life and boost consumption,” the post onXsaid.
The Prime Minister was responding to a message from Vaishnaw which read: “Prime Minister @narendramodi Ji has approved the 8th Central Pay Commission for all central government employees.
Vaishnaw confirmed that the decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi on Thursday morning.
This also comes a year before the end of the 7th Pay Commission implemented in 2016 by the Modi government.

A salary commission is constituted by the central government approximately every ten years to review the salary structure of its employees and determine the payment of pensions.
Since 1947, seven salary commissions have been created.
