(Reuters) President-elect Donald Trump has told advisers he wants to visit China after taking office, the Wall Street Journal reported Saturday, citing people familiar with the discussions.
Trump has expressed interest in visiting China during his first 100 days in office, the report said, citing one of the sources.
Trump's inauguration will take place on Monday and Chinese state news agencies reported on Friday that Chinese Vice President Han Zheng would attend as Beijing stands ready to step up cooperation.
Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping, through their representatives, discussed an in-person meeting, with one option involving the new US president inviting the Chinese leader to the United States, the WSJ added.
The Chinese embassy in Washington did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
