PTI lawyers protest Imran's conviction in Al-Qadir case – Journal

SWAT: Insaf Lawyers Forum on Monday staged a protest outside the Swat Press Club against the conviction of PTI founder Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Al-Qadir Trust case, chanting slogans in favor of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

Members of the Insaf Lawyers Forum, led by President Naseerullah Khan, took out a rally from the district courts to the Swat Press Club building. Holding placards and banners, they demanded the immediate release of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.

Addressing the protest in front of the Swat Press Club, Chairman of Insaf Lawyers Forum Swat Naseerullah Khan, Secretary General Muazzam Ali Khan, Deputy Secretary Zahid Kakakhel, Chairman of Insaf Lawyers Forum of the region north Naseem Gul and senior lawyer Abdul Wadood said PTI founder Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were illegally convicted by a deposed and imported judge, which constituted a serious injustice.

They said the decision was completely against the principles of justice, so they appealed to the Supreme Court to overturn it and ordered the release of Imran and his wife.

Demand the immediate release of the former Prime Minister and his wife

Protesters said Bushra Bibi's conviction in the Al-Qadir Trust case was incomprehensible because she had never held public office.

They demanded the government to immediately release all PTI members arrested for political reasons.

The lawyers warned that if the PTI founder and his wife were not released immediately and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his associates persisted in their obstinacy, a new political crisis would emerge in the country, for which the government would be responsible.

Meanwhile, Swat District Police Officer Nasir Mehmood met a delegation of the United Nations for Women at his office on Monday.

The delegates included Sher Khan, Ms Zainab, Ms Shagufta, Ms Uzma and the focal person for ending violence against women and girls, Samreen Hakeem.

During the meeting, the DPO appreciated the efforts of the United Nations Women in renovating the residential barracks for female police officers at the Police Academy and Mingora Police Station, as well as establishing of facilitation offices for women.

He said these initiatives and efforts of the organization have boosted the morale of women police officers, keeping them motivated and strengthening their sense of public service.

The DPO assured the delegation of the full cooperation of the police in the future and stressed that Swat Police is always dedicated to serving the public. He said such initiatives not only improve the performance of women police officers but also ensure better facilities for the public.
