IHC allows Imran Khan to meet his family and WhatsApp calls his sons

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has granted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan permission to meet his family, consult his lawyers and make WhatsApp calls to his sons, Sulaiman Khan and Qasim Khan.

The move followed a petition from Khan's lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, who claimed that Khan had not been allowed to meet his family or contact his sons, despite previous court orders. The court ordered prison authorities to facilitate these meetings and calls.

During the hearing, the court also sought clarification on the arrangements made for Khan's convicted wife, Bushra Bibi, to meet him. The deputy superintendent of Adiala prison said such meetings could be organized in the prison premises.

Additionally, Khan's lawyer asked the court to ensure that his client is provided with facilities in prison under the Pakistan Prison Rules, 1978, including weekly telephone conversations with his sons, access to reading materials and regular visits to his family and his lawyer.

The court adjourned the matter until January 27 and ordered the prison authorities to consult the prison superintendent for further guidance and compliance.
