Imran Khan replaces CM Gandapur with Junaid Akbar as PTI KP president

PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has removed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur from the post of PTI KP chairman, 24NewsHD TV channel reported.

Imran Khan has now appointed Junaid Akbar as KP chairman of PTI.

Speaking to reporters in Rawalpindi, PTI general secretary Salman Akram Raja confirmed that the KP chief minister was no longer the president of the KP chapter of the party.

Elaborating on this, he said a lot of responsibilities already rested on the shoulders of Gandapur as the provincial CM. “Therefore, it was Junaid who was made president,” he said, adding, “In fact, Gandapur wanted Junaid to be his successor.”

Raja informed that the notification of Junaid's appointment would be released soon. He also informed that a stalwart PTI leader Aliya Hamza Malik would be given an important mission in Punjab. Regarding another PTI leader, Sher Afzal Marwat, he said he had nothing to do with the controversy surrounding him. “The party founder will decide his future in the party once he receives his response to the show cause notice.”

Quoting Imran Khan, Raja said he had expressed the desire to meet the party's negotiating team before January 28. “The PTI founder further said the party would not back down on its demand for the formation of a judicial commission.”

Sources said the PTI founder had asked Salman Akram Raja to focus on revamping the party in Punjab. The PTI general secretary was also ordered to hold consultations with party leaders and workers for reorganization of the party in Punjab.
