Prabowo honors Indias 76th Republic Day during meeting with PM Modi
JAKARTA (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto extended his congratulations to India on its 76th Republic during a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Saturday.
“For all the people of India, prosperity and success can always be with India,” he said.
Prabowo expressed his gratitude for being invited as the chief guest of the 76th Republic of the Republic ceremony, scheduled for Sunday, January 26.
He will be the fourth Indonesian president to be invited to the event, which will also feature the historic participation of 352 Indonesian military personnel in the marching band and marching band during the Republic Day parade.
“This is the first time that the Indonesian military contingent will participate in a military parade outside Indonesia. So once again, thank you very much for the great honor extended to us,” Prabowo noted.
The President highlighted Indonesia's long-standing friendship with India. He recalled that during Indonesia's struggle for independence, India was among its most loyal supporters, providing financial and medical assistance.
“Many Indian leaders supported us in our critical time,” he stressed.
Prabowo reiterated that the Indonesian embassy in New Delhi is located on land donated by the Indian government, a move made before Indonesia was recognized by many other countries.
“This shows the depth of our relationship. Indonesia will never forget this support,” he stressed.
“We consider this partnership very important, and we would like to improve and accelerate the level of cooperation between us,” concluded Prabowo.
