The High Court of Islamabad scheduled the hearing of Khawar Maneka on Monday against the acquittal of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the case of the ' Iddat. Judge Azam Khan, recently appointed to the High Court of Islamabad, will chair the hearing, reported Express News.

Maneka had challenged the decision rendered by a judge of additional sessions on July 13, 2024, who acquitted the couple in this case. The appeal requests the cancellation of the verdict of the lower court.

On July 13, 2024, the additional session judge acquitted Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi of charges related to their alleged marriage during the Iddat of Bushra Bibi (a waiting period prescribed by Islamic law after the divorce of a woman or the death of her husband).

Previously, the Islamabad district and hearing court had canceled the sentence of seven years in prison pronounced against Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi, granting them an honorable acquittal in this case.

During the hearing, Salman Akram Raja represented Imran Khan, while Usman Riaz Gul represented Bushra Bibi. The two lawyers have counter-examine the four dependent witnesses, including Maneka, Awn Chaudhry, the Nikah Khwan (celebrating marriage) Mufti Saeed and a lag, latif.
