Pakistani government reiterates willingness to submit written response to demands raised by Imran Khan's party

Islamabad [Pakistan]January 27 (ANI): The Pakistani government on Sunday refused to change its stance on negotiations with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), reiterating that it would present a written response to its charter of demands at the next scheduled meeting which took place on Tuesday, Dawn reported. Meanwhile, the PTI has called for immediate appointment of a new chief election commission as the tenure of incumbent President Sikandar Sultan Raja ended on Sunday. Last week, the PTI announced the cancellation of the talks as the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)-led government failed to respond to its demand to constitute judicial commissions to probe the protests from May 9, 2023 and November 26, 2024. On Saturday, PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja said he met PTI founder Imran Khan. According to him, Imran Khan has shown interest in meeting the PTI negotiating committee. On Sunday, the Pakistani government said the PTI had walked out of the negotiations, despite the agreement that the former would give its response to the demands made by the party founded by Imran Khan within seven working days, i.e. January 28, a Dawn reported. In a statement, the spokesperson for the Pakistani government's negotiating team, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, said: “We are not prepared to be ridiculed (by announcing our responses publicly or in front of the media).
