The UGM, as an institution which should maintain the disclosure of public information, is required to provide a clear explanation in accordance with law n ° 14 of 2008 concerning the opening of public information. If it is proven that the information provided does not comply with the facts, UGM officials may be subject to criminal sanctions, either in the form of prison or fines. The public continues to wait for UGM responses concerning the authenticity of the Jokowi diploma, which is one of the requirements for its political appointment, both in the 2014, 2019 elections, and during the appointment as mayor of Surakarta and the Governor of Dki Jakarta.
