Visit of Maurice de PM Modi: announces the Mahasagar vision for the world South
Prime Minister Modi and his counterpart agreed on a number of questions related to the defense partnership, maritime security, local trade, among others. “The free, open, safe and secure Indian Ocean is our mutual priority. We are committed to cooperating in the maintenance of security in the exclusive economic zone of Mauritius,” said Prime Minister Modi.

Addressing the press conference on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi said: “Whether it is the world South, the Indian Ocean or the African continent, Maurice is our important partner. Ten years ago, the Stone of Vision Sagar Foundation -” Security and growth of all in the region “were posed here in Mauritius.”
Speaking on the next step in this area, he announced the vision of the Mahasagar initiative – mutual and holistic advancement for security and growth between regions. “For the world South, our vision will be – Mahasagar. By virtue of this, trade in development, capacity building for sustainable growth and mutual security for a shared future will be included,” said Prime Minister Modi.
He said support will be provided by technology sharing, loans and concessional subsidies. The PM thanked Maurice PM and its citizens for the warm welcome he received in the island state and invited Prime Minister Ramgolam for a visit to India.

Prime Minister Modi arrived in Mauritius on Tuesday, March 11 for a two -day state visit to participate in his national day celebrations as a chief guest.
It was greeted by the “honor guard” at Port Louis airport. During his first day on the bilateral talks held with his counterpart and met the president of Maurice Dharambeer Gokhool at the State House.
Prime Minister Modi was conferred on the civilian honor of the maritius, the great commander of the Etoile order and the key to the Indian Ocean.
