The Senate Democrats refuse to support the GOP spending bill which could finance the government until September, the chief of the minority Chuck Schumer said on Wednesday.

This means that a government closure could be imminent when approaching the deadline for this weekend. Schumer rather approved a short -term measure proposed by Democrats who could also avoid closing.

Government’s financing should be a bipartite effort, but the Republicans have chosen a partisan path, writing their continuous resolution without any contribution from the Democrats in the Congress, said Schumer.

Earlier this week, the House Republicans voted to advance the funding measure in the Senate. The representative Thomas Massie was the only republican to vote against.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trumps increased prices on all American imports on steel and aluminum is now in force, intensifying a campaign to reshape the world trade which has already caused rapid reprisals in Europe.
