Robert Morris, the mega-church pastor in the Dallas region who resigned last year in the midst of allegations of sexual abuse, was charged in Oklahoma for sexual crimes for children dating back to the 1980s.

Morris is a former spiritual advisor to President Donald Trump, and Gateway, one of the largest mega-church, was particularly active in politics. In 2020, Trump held a round table in transition to grandeur there which was frequented by the attorney general of the time, William Barr and other eminent republicans.

Morris faces five obscene or indecent chiefs with a child, the office of generals of Oklahoma generals in a press release on Wednesday evening announced.

The accusation act occurs less than a year after Morris resigned from Gateway Church to Southlake after an adult woman, Cindy Clemashire, said her sexually when she was an Oklahoma child in the 1980s. Morris worked at the time as a traveling preacher.

In a text message on Wednesday, Clemishire declared through a lawyer that she was grateful to the indictment.

The disclosure of the Clemishire came while the religious community of Dallas was still in shock from a handful of recent scandals on sexual abuse. Since then, at least a dozen churches or pastors from the Dallas region have been accused of having committed or hidden allegations of sexual misconduct that have trapped some of the most eminent leaders and institutions in the domains.

Little, if necessary, were more publicized than Morris, who regularly got involved in the national and national policy after having founded Gateway in 2000. In 2017, Morris was operated by governor Greg Abbott to help support the so-called bathroom bill who sought to prohibit transgender people to use their favorite bathroom in part by saying that it would allow children to be sexually abused.

During the Trumps 2016 presidential campaign, Morris was among at least three other religious leaders in the Dallas region who sat on the Evangelical Advisory Council of Trumps. And in 2021, Morris was part of an effort to mobilize the conservatives and the evangelicals before the presidential offer of Trumps 2024.

As Morris National Political Spotlight grew up, his churches made the local footprint. For years, Morris and Gateway would show slates to candidates at the local school board on the massive screens of churches in the elections potentially in violation of federal rules which prohibit the manifest political activity of churches.

Many of you see what Satan has tried to do even in our school systems, Morris told some of the churches around 25,000 members in 2023, before showing a list of republican candidates.

These tactics have since been reproduced in neighboring congregations such as Mercy Culture Church. The church of Fort Worth was founded with financial support from Gateway and has become a must of local republican circles, often welcoming local elected Republicans and the president of Texas Gop.

The representative Nate Shatzline, R-Fort Worth, is also a pastor of Mercy Culture. Shatzline was one of the many Republican legislators who called Morris to resign after Clemishire came out last summer.

Representative Jeff Leach, R-Dallas, joined these calls and promised to use this legislative session to pursue bills that would give more rights to infantile sexual victims, in particular to extend the time period that victims must bring prosecution against their attackers or those who allowed them.

This session, several bills have been tabled which would expand civil statutes of limitation, allowing those like Clemashire to continue those responsible for their attacks and to be compensated for the hundreds of thousands of dollars in life costs associated with infant mistreatment.

In an SMS on Wednesday, Clemishire's lawyer Boz Tchividjian said that she was working behind the scenes with defenders of these reforms. I don't know if they came to the point of testifying to the committees, he said. But I have no doubt that she will do it when this moment will come.
