European countries do not want peace in Ukraine
MOSCOW
Russia accused European countries of obstruction of peace efforts in Ukraine on Thursday, saying that their objective is to degenerate tensions and prolong the war.
In response to an Anadolu question, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, said that Germany and France have openly admitted to having violated the 2014-2015 Minsk agreements above Ukraine, while Great Britain discouraged Ukraine to negotiate with Russia in March 2022.
During a press briefing in Moscow, she stressed that these countries had made no effort to resolve the Ukrainian crisis, which makes their position on non -relevant Ukraine.
“If they were to change their fundamental approach, which is currently based on the climbing of tensions and Russophobia, we would take it into account. But for the moment, there is no reason to consider their hysterical position,” she said.
Zakharova also said that European countries are actively opposed to a peaceful resolution to the crisis, suggesting that certain political forces in Europe deliberately block any attempt to start negotiations.

Under the information that Europe plans to send peacekeepers to Ukraine, Zakharova warned that the deployment of foreign military units or bases under a pretext would be “absolutely unacceptable”.

Regarding Russian-American relations, Zakharova said that Moscow had recognized Washington's signals expressing the desire to improve links. However, she stressed that words should be supported by concrete actions, because “we have already seen her before that their words often do not align with their actions”.
On calls to the terrorist group PKK – responsible for the death of some 40,000 people in its campaign for several decades against Türkiye – to fix its arms, Zakharova said: “All stages and initiatives aimed at reducing violence, promoting confidence and solving existing problems by peaceful means. We hope that this will contribute to peace, stability and security.
In the situation in Syria, she said that Russia had taken the necessary measures to protect its citizens and soldiers while coordinating with the Syrian government.
