JAKARTA (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Communication and Digital Synergy with the Industry Working Group (ITF) to strengthen the digital ecosystem in Indonesia.
The Minister of Communication and Meutya Hafid, digital, in a press release, said Thursday that one of the main objectives of this collaboration was to increase access to connectivity through investments inside and outside the country.
“In terms of 5G investment and access to digital connectivity, this area needs more attention. At the same time thanks to the financing of the State itself and by involving the private sector, both in the country and abroad,” said Meutya in an audience with ITF at the Kemkomdi, Jakarta office on Wednesday (3/3).
In addition to connectivity, Meutya stressed the importance of digital governance as the main policy in the era of the Administration of President Prabowo Suubianto.
He stressed that the acceleration of digital ecosystems must be accompanied by good regulations and encourage the emergence of more startups without inhibiting the development of MPMs.
According to him, one of the key factors in strengthening the digital ecosystem is the preparation of the State to have a reliable and safe data center.
Meutya added that the preparation of the construction of the National Data Center must be in harmony with increasing public confidence in the existing digital system.
“We know that private data centers already exist, but the government must also have a fairly solid data center,” he said.
Meutya has also opened opportunities for the private sector to collaborate in the development of the National Data Center.
According to him, this collaboration will enrich the government's perspective in the creation of a better digital infrastructure.
“The government does not need to have its own data center. If the private sector wants to contribute to a joint ecosystem, we are of course open.
Meutya also referred to a global trend linked to a boycott of artificial intelligence products (AI) of certain countries. He said that Indonesia would adopt the principle of open foreign policy in the use of AI technology in various countries.
“Indonesia must follow the principle of foreign diplomacy, which can access the technology of all parties. The two technologies in countries A and B, we will not prohibit. The most important thing is the preparation of our society and our digital ecosystems in the treatment of increasingly rapid technological transformation,” he concluded.
