Islamabad (Dunya News)-The High Court of Islamabad (IHC) ordered the immediate appearance of the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, either via a video link or in person on Friday.

Judge Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan published the directive while hearing a petition filed by Mashal Yousafzai, who challenged the decision of the penitentiary authorities to refuse him a meeting with Imran Khan.

The court first summoned the Superintendent of Adiala prison and asked him to meet Imran Khan and to check if Mashal Yousafzai indeed represented the former Prime Minister as his legal adviser.

“This is equivalent to an outrage of the court, because the meeting was authorized with the consent of both parties at the previous hearing,” said the judge. The court had previously ordered the prison authorities to facilitate the meeting between the petitioner and the founder of the PTI.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the conduct of the prison authorities, judge Ishaq Khan said: “The court expected its orders.

The judge also noted that a list presented in court, provided by the legal team of Imran Khan, was insufficient to satisfy the court. “If the court is not convinced, we will ask Imran Khan directly,” he added.

Repeating the prison superintendent, the judge pointed out: “You make fun of the court”.

The court ordered the authorities to ensure the appearance of Imran Khan via a video link at 2 p.m. Otherwise, Imran Khan must be produced in person before 3 p.m., “ordered the judge.
