Washington: US President Donald Trump said he didn't want Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other world leaders to see tents, graffiti and hen nests and therefore ordered the cleaning of the American capital of Washington DC. He said the United States wanted a capital that could be a “speech of the world”.

“We clean our city. We clean this large capital, and we are not going to have a crime, and we are not going to defend crime, and we will bring down the graffiti, and we already delete the tents, and we work with the administration,” said Trump in the remarks of the Ministry of Justice on Friday, cited AP.

“We have said that there were tents at Gogo right in front of the State Department. They have to go down. And they have killed them right away. And so far, so well. We want to have a capital that can be the speech of the world,” said Trump, praising the mayor of Washington DC, Muriel Bowser, for his “good work”.

Trump also added: “When Prime Minister Modi of India, the president of France, and all these people from the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, they all came to see me in the last week and a half. And when they arrived, I had the road. I did not want to make them see tents.

He said that the United States government under his reign was going to have “capital without crime”. “When people come here, they are not going to be attacked, killed or raped. They will have a capital without crime, again, it will be cleaner and better and safer than ever and it will not take us too long,” added Trump in his address, quoted AP.

Prime Minister Modi visited the United States on February 13 for a bilateral meeting with President Trump, just a few weeks after his inauguration in January.
