Trump obtains a step back from an unlikely place for conservative mediaExBulletin

The diving of consumer confidence and investors who poured the actions, the conservative media tone towards President Donald Trump and his economic policies have changed.

Ayesha Rascoe, host:

During his first two months in the oval office, President Donald Trump was able to count on the support of the conservative press. But now, with the confidence of consumer confidence and investor actions, even some right -wing media are starting to push the president. David Folkenflik, the NPR Media correspondent, joins us to discuss the change of tone. Welcome to the program.

David Folkenflik, byline: Thank you.

RASCOE: Where are we starting to see some of these setbacks?

Folkenflik: Well, let's put aside the right to never exploit. Let's start with the most important part of the conservative press, and it is the Murdoch media. There are really four main parts of this. There is the news section of the Wall Street Journal, the editorial pages of the Wall Street Journal, of the New York Post and, of course, bigger of all, Fox News.

In any case – a fairly gentle part, part of this less – repels Trump on this subject, reflecting – in terms of the cover of Wall Street Journal, which has rigorously reported the pages of news – they try to take care of what thinks of Rupert Murdoch, and to reflect what is needed, which really wants to do the hand of predictable and stable markets.

Rascoe: So what do they say?

Folkenflik: Well, you have seen these big titles of the Wall Street Journal reports, you know, in particular on fears concerning the leaders of the management and the chiefs of finance and the real concerns concerning the way in which consumers hurt high to the bottom of household income levels and how they accelerate the fears of what they can do.

Take the first page of the New York Post last week – you saw this huge cartoon of Trump dive directly on the inclination of a Russian mountain, Tithined “Buckle Up: Markets Plunge”. You have seen the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal talk about prices. They called its movements in Canada and Mexico the stupidest trade war in history a few weeks ago and sort of doubled a few days ago, repeating the line again.

And then there is a very soft explanator of the presenter of Fox News, Bret Baier, explaining why the prices do not really work as the president claims, that they really end up hitting the American consumer. And even Fox’s host Maria Bartiromo, a true loyalist of Trump -, here is what it looked like when she recently mixed it with Trump's trade secretary Howard Lunick.

Maria Bartiromo: I know that you have said that you are not expecting a recession, but investors are up to the possibility of a recession this year after the Atlanta Federal Reserve said that it predicts a 2.4% contraction in the first quarter. And, of course, President Trump would not do …

Howard LITNICK: Well, why – wait, wait, wait.

Bartiromo: Yes.

Lutnick: Say that. What? What?

The PEDERAL reserve reserve …

LITNICK: two -point two -point contraction?

Strike: correct.

Folkenflik: And it is someone who does everything possible to supervise things in the best possible way for Trump most of the time. She has just received a Trump meeting on the board of directors of John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts.

Rascoe: And how are other pro-Trump outlets covered this moment?

Folkenflik: I think you look at the four DS – defend, divert, deny, ignore. You saw it in a lot of right points and pro-Trump sockets. Take Rob Finnerty from Newsmax. He recently debated the Prime Minister of Ontario Doug Ford about Canada's reaction to Trump's pricing movements.

(Soundbit of archived registration)

Rob Finnerty: How is it right? I think Donald Trump just wants to get the best offer for the American consumer, even if it means a certain short -term pain.

Folkenflik: There are other right and pro-Trump sites that simply focus on the former president Joe Biden for everything that is going on now or could in the future.

Rascoe: What will be the impact of this cover?

Folkenflik: Well, I think these things are both a leading and delay indicator. They tell you where these points of sale think that their audience is and, in the case of Fox, where they hope to bring the president because they know that few people look at Fox and the media more close than him.

Rascoe: He's the correspondent for the NPR media David Folkenflik. David, thank you very much for joining us.

In public: you bet.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history.
