Academics and historians are likely to spend months to scrutinize files for responses to the former American presidents who killed.

US President Donald Trumps Administration has published thousands of pages of government files on the assassination of John F Kennedy (JFK), creating historians and internet detectives on a crazy race to discover new information on one of the most seismic moments in American history.

The National Archives said Tuesday that all files previously selected for the classification had been published and were available to access online or in person.

The archives have downloaded approximately 63,000 pages of documents from its website in two initial sections, with more files to be published online because they are scanned.

The office of the national intelligence director, led by Tulsi Gabbard, said that the press release included around 80,000 pages of previously classified files.

The press release comes after Trump signed an executive decree calling for the release of all the remaining files on the assassination of the former president in January, in addition to the files on the killings of former American senator Robert F Kennedy and the civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.

Academics and historians are likely to spend months to spend through documents for new indices on the circumstances of JFKS death, which has been at the center of the theories of the intrigue and the conspiracy for more than six decades.

In a Gallup survey in 2023, 65% of Americans said they did not believe in the conclusions of the Warren commission, which concluded that Lee Harvey Oswald, a former American sailor, acted alone to kill the president during his visit to Dallas, Texas, on November 22, 1963.

Among the people interviewed, 20% said they thought that Oswald had plotted with the US government, while 16% said it had collaborated with the CIA.

Researchers who examined Tuesday's release did not report any gap compared to the dominant narrative on Oswald in their initial file assessment.

During his first mandate, Trump undertook to publish all the exceptional files, but finally retained thousands of files after the federal agencies, including the CIA and the FBI, asked for additional time to examine sensitive documents.

Former American president Joe Bidens Administration published thousands of other documents in 2022.

Before Tuesday release, more than 99% of some 320,000 documents examined under the JFK Records Act had been published to the public, according to the national archives.

The 1992 law required the disclosure of all remaining files by October 26, 2017, unless the president determines that his release would cause damage identifiable in national defense or other government functions of such gravity that it prevails over the public interest in disclosure.
