The government of Musk's x sues Modi in the Battle DW censorship 03/20/2025
Elon Musk X's social network has filed a complaint against the Indian government, arguing that the country's computer ministry illegally widened its censorship powers to allow the easier withdrawal of online content.
In the file of the court dated March 5, but reported only by the media only, the social network alleged that the Indian Ministry of Computers has asked other services to use a website managed by the government to issue blocking blocking orders.

X argued that the website, launched by the Indian Ministry of Internal Affairs last year, was not subject to strict Indian legal guarantees which previously only allowed orders to delete content by senior officials and, in cases deemed to be threatening public order or state sovereignty.
The website creates “an inadmissible parallel mechanism” which causes “censorship without restriction of information in India,” said the social network.
The Indian government has not yet commented.
The case was briefly heard earlier this week before the High Court of the Indian State of Karnataka, but no final decision was made. It will now be heard on March 27.
Musk wants to deploy Starlink and Tesla in India
The trial marks an escalation in a legal dispute in progress between X and the government of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the way in which the political country online. He also comes then that Musk is preparing to launch Starlink and Tesla in India.
Musk has concluded agreements with two of the largest telecommunications suppliers in India, Jio and Bharti Airtel, to roast the broad band of Starlink across the country, but the company still needs government authorization.
The dispute also coincides with the threats of American president Donald Trump, who Musk acts as a main advisor, to impose prices on Indian goods.
“I think they are likely to considerably reduce these prices. But on April 2, we will charge them the same prices they charge us,” said Trump on the far right Breitbart News Network, calling India “one of the highest pricing nations in the world”.
In 2021, X, then known as Twitter, was in Loggerheads with the Indian government after refusing to comply with the legal orders to block certain positions related to the protests of farmers.
