New Delhi: The central government revealed Thursday that nearly Rs 258 crore was spent for the 38 foreign visits to Prime Minister Narendra Moda between May 2022 and December 2024.
The highest expenses for a single visit were incurred during the Prime Minister's trip to the United States in June 2023, which amounted to Rs 22 Crere, reported the PTI news agency.
This information was shared by the Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, in response to a question from Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
The request, raised by the head of the opposition Mallikarjun Kharge, asked for the total expenditure incurred by the Indian embassies on the provisions for the foreign primary ministers in the last three years, as well as a cost rupture for areas such as hotel arrangements, community receptions, transport and other various exhibitions.
The data presented in the response of governments described the expenses incurred during foreign visits to the PM Modi, including spending on official, support, security and media delegations. The details were provided in a tabular format, covering the visits made between May 2022 and December 2024.
Among the notable spending, the trip to the United States in June 2023 cost Rs 22,89.68,509, while the September 2024 visit to the United States amounted to Rs 15,33,76,348. Other important trips include the visit of the PMS in Japan in May 2023, costing Rs 17,19,33,356, and its visit to Nepal in May 2022, which was considerably cheaper to Rs 80 01 483.
The list of foreign countries visited by Prime Minister Moda between 2022 and 2024 includes Germany, Kuwait, Denmark, France, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Australia, Egypt, South Africa, Greece, Poland, Ukraine, Russia, Italy, Brazil and Guyana.
