The UGM answers the question of the police in the allegations of authenticity of the Jokowi diploma

He expressed doubt about the authenticity of the diploma and the Jokowi thesis of Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

In response to these statements, Sigit Sunarta, the dean of the Fête de Foresterie de l'UGM, expressed his regret as to the dissemination of what he called “deceptive information” by Rismon. Sigit stressed that Rismon is a former student of the electrical engineering study program of the UGM engineering faculty.

“We deeply regret the deceptive information transmitted by a speaker who should be able to clarify and educate the public with useful information,” said Sigit on Friday March 21, 2025.

Sigit argued that as an agademic, Rismon should have found its conclusions on factual evidence and rigorous research methodologies. He suggested that Rismon should have compared the diploma and the thesis of Jokowi with those produced by other students from the Faculty of Forestry during the same period.

In a video published on the YouTube channel of Balige Academy, Rismon said that Jokowi’s 1985 forest baccalaureate is inauthentic. “100 billion percent false,” he said, quoted in the video published on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Rismon's claims are based on two points: the police used on the diploma and the serial number, which lightens is only a photocopy. He argued that the use of the Roman Times New Roman police was incompatible with the technology available on November 5, 1985, the date of the Jokowi diploma show.

“Windows OS version 1.01 was published on November 20, 1985, or 15 days after the publication of the Jokowi diploma.

He also compared the Jokowi diploma to that of another former UGM, Bambang Nurcahyo Prastowo. He said Jokowi’s diploma used Times New Roman Police, while the Prastowo diploma used a standard font associated with the back (disk operating system). “Jokowi diploma police use Roman Police Times New, while CE (Prastowo diploma) use windows,” he said.

Addressing Rismmon's statements, Sigit said it was common for students to use new Roman times or similar fonts for printing covers and approval sheets during printing services during this period. He mentioned that printing stores near the UGM campus, such as Prima and Sanur, offered printing thesis coverage printing.

“The fact that there were printing machines in Sanur and Prima should also be known to the person concerned (Rismon) because he also studied at the UGM,” said Sigit.

Sigit admitted that if Jokowi's thesis coverage and the approval sheet were printed in an impression, the 91-page thesis itself was tapped. “There are many students' theses that use blankets and approval sheets with printing machines,” he added.

Regarding the serial number of the Jokowi diploma, which, according to Rismon, lacked clusters and consisted only of figures, Sigit explained that the Faculty of Forestry had its own policy of numbering the diploma at the time and that there was no normalization on the level of the university. He said the numbering system applied to all graduates of the Fête de Foresterie, not just Jokowi.

“The number is based on the order of the student registration number who has graduated and added FKT, an abbreviation for the faculty,” said Sigit.

Sigit also reiterated his regret concerning the accusations of Rismon. “It should be noted that Jokowi's diploma and thesis are authentic. He studied here, his classmates knew him well, he was active in student activities (Silvagama), he was registered as following many courses, working on a thesis, so his diploma issued by UGM is authentic,” he concluded.
