Congress MP Jairam Ramesh On Saturday, reacted to the delegation of judges of the Supreme Court to reach Manipur and took the opportunity for the excavation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not having visited the state since violence broke out almost two years ago.

The delegation of judges of the Supreme Court, led by judge Br Gavai, arrived in Imphal, Manipur, Saturday to visit rescue camps in the affected state of violence.
The minister also welcomed the visit of the judges, but criticized the delay in the imposition of the president's reign, despite “the collapse of the constitutional system” in the state.
“We welcome the six judges who went to Manipur. But the question arises, even after the Supreme Court itself on August 1, 2023, said that the constitutional system of Manipur had been completely demolished, why did it take 18 months to impose the reign of the president?” He said.
Ramesh also criticized the Minister of the Interior Amit Shah for not having discussed the situation at Manipur during the discussions on the operation of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MHA) in Parliament. “Yesterday, the Minister of the Interior responded to Rajya Sabha for about four hours on the work of his Interior Ministry, but he didn't say much about Manipur,” he said.

Manipur has been confronted with ethnic violence since May 3, 2023, after clashes broke out between the majority of Meitei and the tribal community of Kuki after a rally by the Tribal Studens Union de Manipur (Atsum).
