The head of the EU foreign policy calls for renewing the ceasefire of Gaza in the middle of climbing

“We would be happy and we will be happy to achieve our objectives by diplomatic means. But if this is not possible, we have no choice but to continue our military efforts,” said Sa'ar.

The ceasefire that started in January had stopped more than a year of fighting launched by the attack on Hamas on October 7, 2023, during which its activists killed around 1,200 people, mainly civilians, and took 251 hostages. Most captives have since been released by ceasefire agreements or other agreements.

In the first phase of the ceasefire, 25 Israeli hostages and the bodies of eight others were released in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners.

The Israeli army later authorized hundreds of thousands of people to go home, and there was an increase in humanitarian aid until Israel cuts all the supplies in Gaza earlier this month to put Hamas to new discussions on the agreement.
