Istanbul chooses the acting mayor aslan in the midst of the ongoing protests against Imamoglu | New policies
The municipal council chose a temporary mayor to succeed Ekrem Imamoglu, who was imprisoned last week.
The municipal government of Istanbuls elected Nuri Aslan as an acting mayor to replace Ekrem Imamoglu, which was imprisoned for corruption.
The local broadcaster NTV and the Turkish media Anadolu reported on Wednesday that ASLAN, of the Party of the Republican Peoples of Imamoglus (CHP), had been chosen to direct the city for the rest of the term imamoglus, while waiting for the trial.

Speaking in the building of the municipality of Istanbul in Sarachane, the president of the CHP, Ozgur Ozel, said that the interim election of the mayor had blocked Erdogans pushing to appoint an administrator of the municipality.
The struggle will extend to all the Turkiye from now on, but one leg will always be in Istanbul and one hand will always be on Sarachane, said Ozel, adding that the resistance of the public had thwarted what the opposition calls for an attempt against him.
Aslan, speaking alongside Ozel, reiterated that his new position was temporary.
Our mayor, elected with the votes of Istanbul, will return as soon as possible. With our president, we take care of what he has told us and we return it, he said.
This occurs when demonstrations took place daily across the country after the detention of Imamoglu a week ago. His supporters say they will continue to protest despite the authorities who appeal to rallies and arrested hundreds of people, including journalists.
On Tuesday afternoon, police had detained 1,418 people, said Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya. Among them, 11 Turkish journalists covering the demonstrations, of which seven were placed in pre -trial detention.
Street terror
Erdogan said Wednesday that his government would not be developed on what he described as provocations by the main opposition.

Large crowds have participated in street demonstrations since then, defying protest bans in Istanbul, the capital Ankara and Izmir with the disorders distributed across the country.
In a possible change in tactics, the main party of the Republican Peoples of the Opposition (CHP) said that he did not call another night demonstration on Wednesday outside the office of the mayors of Istanbul.
Most of the nights, some of the demonstrations have turned into battles with the riot police, whose difficult repression alarmed rights groups.
