Politics
It was just to limit the figures to the covers funeral

By all means, there should be an appropriate analysis of events during the epidemic and learning lessons, but saving us these experts in a chair and their bogus of wisdom.
Dr RM Morris, Ellon.
Do not blame the SNP
By trying to defend the deafening silence of Sir Keir Starmers Stooge in Scotland while the Labor Party betrays its socialist principles, Sir Tom Clarke (Letters, March 26) repeats Anas Sarwars of flagrant deception his fault of SNP which was exposed by the austerity actions of the government of the New Uk Labory.
Either the British government has directly failed the Scottish people, or indirectly fails them thanks to a configuration of devolution which does not meet their expectations or did not serve their aspirations.
Whatever the ruling party in Holyrood, he would not have had the financial resources to mitigate all aspects of the bad decisions taken in Westminster, the NHS through the United Kingdom would have always been overwhelmed by the covid (and always recover), our local councils, like the rest of the United Kingdom, would still have lacked divers for the purposes to do, the Scothe government should still have faced. Delays and budgetary orders in the supply (but not the scale of tens of billions of people wasted on the useless EPI, HS2 in the north and the aircraft carriers without the plane for which they were designed).
It was not the SNP that deregulated the British banking system, which promoted Scandalous PFI programs leading local councils through the United Kingdom near bankruptcy (with certain advice in England now in bankruptcy) or imposed a catastrophic Brexit.
While the politicians of the Labor Party finally admit that Great Britain is indeed broken, it is falsified to try to blame the SNP for the Scottish Democratic, Economic and Social Stem, which are repeated, if not worse, in the rest of the United Kingdom. Be honest SIR TOM, if you want to blame the Scottish government for this desperate situation, the Labor Party must first facilitate the law of the Scotland people to determine their own future so that their government can trace an independent path towards prosperity and take responsibility for any responsibility for any error along the way in the construction of a country which we can all be proud.

The opposition making Holyrood
Jill Stephenson (Letters, March 26) says that Holyrood is “biased towards the executive” and that the SNP government obscures the questions asked by the opposition MSPs. According to her, it is a clear attempt to avoid being held to account and, as such, reinforces Holyrood, regardless of the fact that he simply reflects what is happening in Westminster.
However, this statement is barely a month after the Conservative MSP Douglas Lumsden was revealed to have asked 987 questions in a single month at the cost of around 100 per pop. This represented around 50% of the total of 1,938 for the 129 MSP and cost you 100,000 to you and me.
He claimed to act on behalf of his voters by holding the government to account. However, we then found that among the main problems which were of great concern for its voters, there were the number of sachets of salt and pepper in the Holyrood restaurant and the state of bee beehives in the Parliament's gardens.
With all the respect due to Ms. Stephenson, the general public has a dark vision of Holyrood precisely due to conduct like this by the opposition MSPs. However, we rarely hear the criticism of it by Mr. Lumsden. Instead, she is obsessed with her SNP hatred and everything she represents by doing another to Nicola Sturgeon.
Robert Menzies, Falkirk.
Call this democracy?
It can only be assumed that Jill Stephenson has never looked at the questions of the Prime Ministers when Scottish Labor MPs have regularly rejected SNP with PAT questions rather than defending Scotland or taking the British government to take into account their voters faced with increased austerity.
Unlike Westminsters, obsolete, first after the post system, the Scottish Parliament has been set up to prevent a party with overall control and consensus must be reached before the legislation can be adopted. It is almost impossible for the triumph of Alex Salmonds 2011 to be repeated.
Scottish deputies have no influence on the British government, as evidenced by the failure of the failure of Grangemouth or the cancellation of the project of super-computer of Edinburgh, while billions are announced for the transport centers of the south-east of England. Conservative deputies and Douglas Ross have imposed the law on the single market on Scotland, which prevents the Scottish government from giving priority to Scottish companies during contracts.
With regard to Westminster style democracy, no one can forget the collusion of Keir Starmers with President Lindsay Hoyle to authorize an unprecedented work movement in order to sabotage the motion of the OPPIDE of the SNP calling for an immediate cease-fire on the genocide in Gaza.
Fraser Grant, Edinburgh.
Dewar on the left? It will be true
Kevin McKenna (“How SNP and work killed left -wing policy”, The Herald, March 25) quotes some examples of “left -handers”, including Neil Findlay, Jim Sillars, Margo Macdonald, Donald Dewar and yours.
Donald Dewar would probably grimacted to be marked as a leftIe. However, compared to Keir Starmer and Company, he could be perceived as a Marxist revolutionary.
Dennis Canavan, Bannockburn.
A confusing prediction
Can anyone really predict the future? With a remarkable professor of bravery, Sir John Curtice, predicted that he is “inevitable” the SNP will be at the heart of the next Holyrood government and that independence will be back on the table (“Curtice: the almost inevitable SNP will form the next government”, HeraldScotland, March 26). We all know that a week is long in politics, so more than a year in advance is opaque, but it shows the state of politics in Scotland that anyone can assume the SNP, with its horrible assessment in the past 20 years, could always be the party of choice for voters. The only safe prediction is that the next Holyrood government will have real problems and few solutions.

Expel illegal immigrants
When the government will accept that its policy to reprimand the gangs that accumulate “does not work, is the bad strategy and it is unlikely that it is not even to reduce the costs of enormous to adapt to the ever-increasing number of migrants who arrive here illegally. The total of 50,000 is scheduled for this year.
Why not accept the reality that gangs (past, present and future) exist to take advantage of the satisfaction of the huge request from the thousands who go to the French coast to camp around Calais? They are safe in France, but they are ready to risk their lives by crossing the channel occupied in small overcrowded boats. Why, if not due to the expectation of all the advantages they will receive in the United Kingdom? The comparison of these advantages funded by British taxpayers with the few they receive in France, which are only a tent, clearly indicates that their motivation is that economic migrants.
The only sure way to dissuade them from trying to cross the chain would be to specify in law that if they do, they will be automatically disqualified to stay here and will be expelled. If this policy was put into practice, demand would disappear like gangs. Why will the government not see meaning and will it not try it?
