Yunus is visiting four days in China to strengthen links and attract investments. Earlier, he attended the Boao forum for Asia in Hainan.
This is his first bilateral visit since his entry into office in August 2024 and coincides with 50 years of diplomatic relations in Bangladesh-Chine.
Yunus is accompanied by the foreign advisor MD Touhid Hossain, the energy advisor Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, the high representative Khalilur Rahman, the SDG coordinator Lamiya Morshed, and the press secretary Shafiqul Alam.
According to the Dhaka Tribune, in a national speech Tuesday evening, the chief advisor announced that the largest manufacturer of Chinese solar panels, Longji, wanted to create a factory in Bangladesh.
“We work with them,” he said, adding that discussions will also cover technical and medical assistance, affordable health care and business. China has expressed its interest in importing mangoes, Jacquies and Goyave du Bangladesh, exports that should start soon.
Bangladesh and China should sign several agreements and soft after the meeting between the two leaders.
These agreements will cover the development of human resources, economic and technical cooperation, culture, sports and media collaboration.
