Case of contempt against Imran referred to the regular SC bench

Islamabad: The Constitutional Bench of Supreme Courts (SC) referred the court to court on Thursday against the former president of the PTI, Imran Khan, to a regular bench.

A constitutional bench of five members of the Supreme Court, led by Judge Amicin Khan, heard the case of outrage against the founder of PTI, Imran Khan. The government had filed a request in June 2022 against the founder of the PTI for having allegedly violated the judicial orders by extending the long kilometers of the March of Mars beyond the designated area at Avenue Jinnah.

The government had argued that the long -term participants blocked the roads, causing difficulties to citizens.

Thursday, during the hearing, judge Jamal Khan Mandokhail asked the Council of Imran Khans, Salman Akram Raja, if the case was to be before the constitutional bench or a regular bench. Raja replied that this did not involve any constitutional questions and asked that he be sent to a regular bench. The additional prosecutor general also argued, referring to a case of previous contempt on the reserved seats which had been sent to a regular bench. The court then accepted the request and referred the case to a regular bench.
