Trkiye, Iraq Ink 11 pacts on the key sectors

Agreements signed in several areas, including defense and higher education, after a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani in Ankara

Trkiye and Iraq signed Thursday 11 pacts, in particular information and communication technologies, the defense and higher education industry, following an individual meeting and prohibition between President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammed Shia Al-Sudani, in Ankara.

An agreement on standard implementation procedures for the voluntary return and the reintegration of Iraqi nationals was signed by the general management of Trkiye to combat migration and irregular moves and the Iraqi migration business department at the Ministry of Migration and Movements.

A memorandum of understanding (Mou) on training cooperation was signed by the interior ministries of the two countries.

Another memorandum of understanding on training cooperation has been signed between the gendarmerie general command of the Ministry of the Interior of Trkiye and the Iraqi Interior Ministry.

An agreement on the fight against the illicit trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances was signed by the two countries.

In the field of disasters and emergency management, the Trkiye's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) and the National Center for the Crisis and the Management of Iraq disasters at the Ministry of the Interior signed a memorandum of understanding.

The two countries also expanded a 2009 agreement on information and communication technologies through an additional protocol signed by officials of the Ministry of Trkiye and the Iraqi Communication Ministry and Communications Ministry.

Another memorandum of understanding was signed between Ayda International Integrated Defense Systems and Iraq's Al Zaman Group for General Trading Contracting and Shipbuilding LLC

In higher education, the Trkiye Higher Education Council and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Iraq have agreed to establish branches and educational programs for Turkish universities in Iraq.

The Trkiye Ministry of Industry and Technology and the Iraqi Ministry of Planning have signed a metrology cooperation agreement.

The Trkiye National Defense Ministry and the Iraqi military industry committee have signed a memorandum of understanding for indigenization in the defense industry.

The Ministries of Justice of the two countries have signed a memorandum of understanding for legal cooperation.
