Ryamizard Ryacudu, died on Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 2:03 p.m. WIB at Gatot Soebroto Military Hospital, Central Jakarta.

The news of his death was confirmed by the head of the Information Office of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait.

“We received news of condolences regarding the death of General TNI (retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu today, Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 2:03 p.m. WIB at RSPAD,” he said.

Ryamizard died of illness. In early February 2026, Ryamizard Ryacudu was hospitalized due to heart problems.

He is undergoing intensive treatment at the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto. Since then, his health was unstable until his death.

Currently, the body of the deceased is still being buried at RSPAD Funeral Home. There has been no official announcement regarding the time and location of the funeral.

Ryamizard Ryacudu was born in Palembang, April 21, 1950. He graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy in 1974 and had a long career in the Indonesian military.

Strategic positions held: military commander, commander of Kostrad, then chief of staff of the Indonesian army for the period 2002-2005.

After his retirement, President Joko Widodo assigned him the position of Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia in the working cabinet, from October 27, 2014 to October 20, 2019.
