news center | Medan ~ The North Sumatra Regional Police, together with elements of the TNI, regional government and related agencies, successfully secured the ASEAN U-19 Boys’ Bank Sumut Championship 2026 (AFF U-19 Cup 2026) between Indonesia and Vietnam which was held at the North Sumatra Main Stadium, Sena Village, Batang Kuis District, Deli Regency Serdang, Sunday evening (06/07/2026).

The match, which took place from 20:00 to 22:00 WIB, was attended by around 20,000 spectators and ended with a 2-1 victory for the Indonesian national team against Vietnam. In addition to being a prestigious match of the AFF U-19 Cup, this match also received great attention because it also brought together the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Joko Widodo with Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo.

To ensure the security of all activities, the North Sumatra Regional Police implemented an integrated and multi-layered security model involving personnel from the North Sumatra Regional Police, North Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade, Medan Police, Deli Serdang Police, Kodim, Transportation Department and other related agencies.

Security is ensured from the arrival route of VVIP guests, the stadium area, match venues, traffic control, to the protection of spectators and supporters. Meanwhile, personnel from the Gegana Satbrimob Detachment of the North Sumatra Police through the Bomb Disposal Team (Jibom), KBR Team and Wanteror personnel also carried out sterilization and were on security alert to anticipate various potential security disruptions.

Meanwhile, another group match between Timor Leste and Myanmar at Teladan Stadium in Medan also took place safely and smoothly. The match, which took place without an audience, ended with Myanmar 3-1 Timor Leste.

Furthermore, Ferry emphasized that the North Sumatra Police will continue to maintain preparation and strengthen inter-agency coordination to secure all remaining matches of the 2026 AFF U-19 Cup series.

Meanwhile, on Monday (08/06/2026), two more matches are scheduled, namely Thailand vs Malaysia at Madya Stadium and Singapore vs Brunei Darussalam at Teladan Stadium in Medan.
