Pakistan Railways closes until March 31
Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the closure of Pakistan Railways operations from March 24 to March 31 due to a coronavirus epidemic.
The coronavirus has killed seven people and affected more than 900 people across the country so far, while the administration has taken steps to stop the spread of the virus.
Earlier, the government reversed a notification regarding the closure of Pakistani railway operations, but today the Prime Minister has given the green light.
Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rashid Ahmed chaired a session by video link on Tuesday after which the notice to suspend the operation of the train was issued.
In accordance with the notification issued by Pakistan Railways, rail operations will remain suspended from April 24 to March 31.
The Sindh government has asked the Ministry of Railways to close its doors to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The total number of coronavirus cases has increased to 908, with new cases reported from all regions of the country.
According to the National National Command and Control Center for the coronavirus, out of a total of 916, 407 cases have been reported in Sindh, 265 in Punjab, 110 in Balochistan, 80 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 38 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 15 people were diagnosed with the deadly virus in Islamabad and one in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
