Minister of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Tjahjo Kumolosaid his party submitted to the President a list of 13 public institutions to be dissolved Joko Widodo. According to Tjahjo,dissolution of state institutions must be done to reduce bureaucracy.
“Kemenpan RB has proposed the dissolution of 13 institutions. We have prepared a draft of Perpres,” Tjahjo Kumolo said in a virtual discussion on Tuesday (9/15).
Tjahjo said that in addition to drafting the presidential decree, his party also coordinated with related parties regarding the dissolution of these 13 state institutions. Among other things, with the National Personnel Agency (BKN) concerning the clarity of the statute of the employees of the institution, as well as the coordination with the Ministry of Finance concerning the severance payments of employees whose institutions are dissolved.
“Then with the relevant ministries, how can it be integrated later,” Tjahjo said.
According to Tjahjo, the dissolution of this state institution was not linked to budgetary efficiency. The PDI-P politician explained that the plan to dissolve the 13 state institutions was aimed at reducing bureaucracy and avoiding overlap between institutions.
Even so, Tjahjo did not explain in detail the 13 state institutions that had been proposed to President Jokowi to be dissolved. He only said that the dissolution was one of the visions and missions of the Jokowi government and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin regarding the simplification of the bureaucracy.

Previously, President Jokowi also dissolved 18 state institutions made up of task forces, agencies, committees and task forces as of July 2020. The institution was established on the basis of a presidential decree (Keppres).
The dissolution of these institutions is spelled out in the Presidential Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia number 82 of 2020 regarding the Committee for the Management of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (Covid-19) and National Economic Recovery.
Article 19 of the presidential decree stipulates that the creation of the Committee for the management of the Covid-19 and the national economic recovery, 18 institutions will be dissolved. This committee is under and accountable to the president.
