If Donald Trump is trying to undo something, it must have real value

Vacation days are stupid beasts. They don’t know there is a pandemic. They keep reproducing, even though they are not needed, because the careful person is not going anywhere. Busy at work, isn’t that the best?

Yet they continue to breed, out of sight. Then, when your attention is finally forced in their direction, say, by your company’s human resources manager, you’re shocked to see that there are now dozens of them, a herd, cooing softly on the porch.

Use those days or waste them, and the one thing I like less than taking a vacation if you’re not in the journal, you might as well be dead, is losing a vacation. You feel cheated. So I winnowing the flock.

I was going on vacation two weeks ago today. But the newspaper had me scheduled for diversity training, and it’s not something the careful employee skips over. Maybe if you had taken diversity training, you wouldn’t have. . . insert a gaff here.

My only thought, beforehand, was imperative. Do not say anything. This event gives me information, not information from me. Now is the time to show off my hard-learned closing skills.

The two-hour meeting took place on Zoom. And might have gone into the blackout, except two days later, a presidential memo banning such sessions in the federal workforce was issued. The President has ordered me to ensure that federal agencies stop and refrain from using taxpayer dollars to fund these divisive, non-American propaganda training sessions, wrote the Director of the Office of Management and the budget, Russell Vought.

This accusation cast the exercise in a new light. It was as if your business had its annual fire drill, where the alarm sounded and staff reluctantly moved to a designated place to stand and be called out by a Chicago Fire Department swift on the importance of not taking your cup of coffee with you when you evacuate the building. Then, the next day, the Pope denounced such exercises as moral sins.

You should take a second look. Having just attended a supposedly anti-American propaganda training session, I have a duty to share what it was. Otherwise, I’m sitting on the national news.

There is one problem, however, that participants in such sessions are told that they are in a safe space, so that they can speak frankly. Although I’m kind of a writer who lets everything down, I can’t make this decision for other people who think they are speaking in private.

But I can say that what happened was the opposite of the division.

She brought together colleagues of different races, genders, ethnicities and inclinations to speak candidly about issues central to our lives. If you think your life is the perfect model for all lives, you probably won’t get much out of it. If, like me, you are interested in other people’s perspective, then that is two hours well spent. It was only anti-American if discussing the issues facing our country was not American. Only if you think America is great because it never did anything wrong. This is obviously fiction, and I greatly prefer a great America because it has overcome great difficulties and recovered from great mistakes.

Or at least try to recover.

Was every second useful? No, not to me. But having witnessed 28 days of alcohol detox years ago, I’m used to sifting through an experience to throw the ball in and keep value. Some days you learn about meta-thinking. Some days you play ball volleyball.

Allows training on file diversity under the Latin saying, Tempora mutantur, nos and mutamur in illis. Times change and we change with them. If we’ve been lucky, and if we pay attention to it, and work on it. If it wasn’t, times still change, but we stay the same, and reality rumbles before us, as we stand behind, in the dust, disconnected, complaining

Our president has a genius for it. To ignore the reality, we see how well it works in fighting COVID or dealing with a West Coast on fire. He responds to problems by minimizing them or blaming others. He is too afraid to try to solve them, accepting what is wrong and then trying to do something. It is hard, the hard work of the patriots, to recognize the failures of our nations and to fight to remedy them.

Conclusion: If Donald Trump is trying to undo something, it must have real value.
