SELATPANJANG – The Regent Government of the Meranti Islands, in this case the Regent Drs Irwan MSi, represented by Assistant II of the Meranti Secretariat, Drs Asroruddin, participated in the webinar on the border area with the Minister of Interior Tito Karnavian and Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD, an activity aimed at improving the good synergy between the regional government and the central government to protect the region. This Indonesian border is sponsored by the National Border Management Agency (BNPP) RI, Thursday (17/92020).
The webinar was led and attended by Minister of Political, Legal and Security Affairs Coordination Mahfud MD, Minister of Home Affairs Jend. Pol Purn Tito Karnavian, Minister of Communication and Information Joni G. Plate, Minister of PUPR RI Basuki, Secretary of BNPB Dr. Suhajar Diantoro, 15 governors and 54 regents / mayors in the Indonesian border areas, as well as OPDs related.
Meanwhile, the government of the Meranti regency was assisted by the regent Drs Irwan MSi represented by the assistant II of the secretary of the district of Meranti, Drs H Asroruddin, head of the border area of the regional secretary of Meranti, M Nazar, Chief of Ortal Bayu Widodo, Chief of Rangsang, H Arifuddin, Chief of Merbau Island Sub-district, Secretary of Merbau Island Transport Department, Atan Ibrahim Meranti, Umayah, Head of Border Subdivision, Yusril Lubis, Public Relations and Protocol Section of Meranti and other officials.
As explained by BNPB Secretary Dr. Suhajar Diantoro, this activity aims to create a good synergy between the regions and the central government, in particular the BNPB in the protection of border areas like the Front Guard of the Republic of Indonesia. Through the construction of road infrastructure, bridges, ports and telecommunications infrastructure (ICT) that are beneficial to the community, so that people living in remote areas can feel the presence of the state.
Menkopolhukam Mahfud MD asserted that there were 3 main issues which became the message of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to pay attention, namely 1. Maintain the territory, not even an inch of land in the Republic of Indonesia was taken by other nations, 2. To maintain the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia according to the ideology of Pancasila, 3. To maintain the well-being of the community by accelerating the physical development in the border area.
Currently, Mahfud said, the Covid-19 pandemic has hampered development in border areas, but he hopes that all available facilities that have been built by the state can be used so that the socio-economic life of the community. continues.
According to Mahfud, the problem of the spread of Covid-19 must be a priority for the regional government of the border region by strengthening the implementation of health protocols at state entrances.
“To fight Covid-19, the most effective way is to use a vaccine, but before the vaccine was found, the regional government of border areas was asked to tighten the border area by implementing protocols sanitary (masks, keeping distances, washing hands), ”Mahfud said.
Mahfud hopes that by maintaining and developing the border areas, Indonesia will make Indonesia safe, sovereign and competitive, and that life will be smooth.
“The construction of this border area should not only be a mission and a vision, but also be realized in the face of a better future for Indonesia”, wished the Minister for the coordination of political, legal and security affairs.
In addition, Interior Minister Tito Carnavian said that the central government is very keen to protect the territory and pay attention to the development of border areas, especially the most remote, the borders, underdeveloped (3T).
“This is in line with Nawa Cita of President Joko Widodo who wants to start development from the periphery, the border area of Indonesia,” he explained.
However, according to Tito, protecting the territory of Indonesia is not an easy thing because Indonesia has the longest sea in the world with more than 17 thousand islands and 3 time zones.
“With 60 percent of the ocean area very vulnerable to annexation from other countries, not to mention other challenges such as illegal fishing, illegal entry and exit and the flow of narcotics,” Tito said .
For this reason, Tito hopes that the existence of Indonesia, especially in the border areas, is maintained and has asked the regional government to use and maintain all the physical buildings that have been built by the central government.
Responding to all central instructions presented in the webinar activity, said Assistant II of the Secretariat of the Regional Secretariat of Meranti H.
