Why is Susan Rice using coronavirus as an excuse for shill for China?
Susan Rice has just reminded Xi Jinping why he misses the President’s ear.
President Barack Obama’s former national security adviser did so with two arguments Tuesday to Andrea Mitchell of the MSNBC.
First, and certainly at the instigation of Mitchell, Rice said that the Trump administration’s description of the coronavirus as the “Wuhan virus” is unacceptable and undermines global cooperation. Viruses can appear anywhere, said Rice, adding that “Wuhan virus” is “racial bait” and “shameful”.
It was news to me. I had the impression that Wuhan is not a race, but rather an industrial city in China where the virus first infected humans.
But Rice didn’t finish, adding, “It doesn’t serve us well, it doesn’t serve the purpose of stifling the virus globally, of marking in nationalist, xenophobic or racist terms. We all have to work together. .. ”
Rice’s first implication here is that the need for cooperation means that it is wrong to criticize China in any respect whatsoever about the virus, even if the Chinese Communist Party’s deception led to its catastrophic mismanagement of the virus. from the early stages of the epidemic. You know, when the virus may have just stopped becoming a global pandemic.
But Rice then overturned her argument of cooperation at all costs.
The former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations did so with a scathing tirade against the Trump administration’s handling of the pandemic. And unlike China, it has not spared its language here. Trump’s response was “circle of hell”, Rice suggested, adding that Trump’s incompetence would leave a lot of American blood on his hands.
To top it off, Rice completely ignored China’s global campaign of lies to blame the US soldiers for the coronavirus. Instead, she re-emphasized China’s privileged rhetoric on how to deal with the pandemic: “This is a global challenge that will require all of us to do our part …”
But here is the question: why is the national security adviser so determined to use a national crisis to preach a defense of the nation that allowed him to become global and simultaneously launch a tirade against the United States government?
Unfortunately, the answer is familiar. Like with her New york times published last summer, Rice considers Xi’s China to be much less problematic than Trump’s America. It’s pretty sad. In fact, coming from a former senior American official, It’s tragic.
