There is a lot of disturbing news in this election cycle, but now there is a local twist: The California Republican Party has admitted to set up unauthorized, unofficial and apparently bogus ballot boxes in Southern California.
My colleague Libby denkmann reports that the boxes were placed in front of churches, political party offices and shops. But Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced in no uncertain terms that the collection boxes are illegal: “In short, providing unauthorized and unofficial mail ballot boxes is prohibited by state law,” he said in a note this week.
Along with Attorney General Xavier Becerra, Padilla sent a cease and desist letter to the California GOP and its Los Angeles, OC, and Fresno chapters.
The move came after the state’s GOP openly caved in to putting the boxes in place, and state GOP spokesman Hector Barajas accused Democrats of trying to suppress the vote. .
Tuesday afternoon on NPR All things Considered, Barajas said that the GOP State can actually extend the program We are ready to go court on that because we are going to make sure that we protect the options for individuals to be able to hand over their ballots.

The Census Bureau lists a completion rate of 99.9%, including at its LA County area census offices (which do not break it down by leaflet, which would show a different picture). But it strongly obscures how these cases are filed, reports Caroline Champlin. There are a lot of shortcuts taken, and the federal announcement strongly smacks of the spin.
The LA County Supervisory Board collectively oversees a $ 30 billion annual budget for everything from mental health treatment and homelessness services to public health and the Sheriffs Department. District 2 covers most of southern Los Angeles, from Inglewood to Carson to Culver City, which is home to approximately two million people. Libby denkmann will moderate a debate tonight between former LA City Council Chairman Herb Wesson and State Senator Holly Mitchell, the candidates vying for the post.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
