Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested that a vaccine distribution system be developed based on the elections.

Prime Minister Modi chaired a meeting on the situation of the COVID19 pandemic and the delivery, distribution and administration of vaccines.

At Saturday’s meeting, PM Modi called for rapid access to vaccines for citizens when ready.

“The Prime Minister suggests that the vaccine distribution system be developed on the lines of election conduct, involving all levels of government and groups of citizens,” said declaration released by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.

“Indian scientists and research teams are collaborating and building research capacity in neighboring countries namely, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Mauritius, Nepal and Sri Lanka,” PMO said in the press release.

There are other requests from Bangladesh, Myanmar, Qatar and Bhutan for clinical trials in their countries.

In an effort to help the global community, the Prime Minister further indicated that “we should not limit our efforts to our immediate neighborhood, but also reach out to the whole world by providing vaccines, drugs and platforms IT systems for the vaccine distribution system ”.

The National Group of Experts on the Administration of Covid-19 Vaccines (NEGVAC), in consultation with state governments and all relevant stakeholders, prepared and presented a detailed plan for storage, distribution and administration vaccines.

The Expert Group, in consultation with States, is actively working on vaccine prioritization and distribution.

This should involve the participation of states / TUs / district level officials, civil society organizations, volunteers, citizens and experts from all fields needed.

“The whole process must have a strong IT backbone and the system must be designed in such a way that it has lasting value for our health system,” the Prime Minister said.

“Two pan-Indian studies on the genome of SARSCoV-2 (Covid-19 virus) in India conducted by ICMR and D / o Bio-Technology (DBT) suggest that the virus is genetically stable and that there is no major mutation in the virus, ”the statement said.

The prime minister cautioned against complacency in the face of the decline and continuing efforts to contain the pandemic.
