Narendra Modi inaugurates seaplane service and embarks on first flight to Sabarmati
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the country’s first seaplane service to Gujarat and embarked on a trip on his maiden flight from Sardar Sarovar to Kevadia on the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad.
The 45-minute seaplane service – launched to mark the 145th anniversary of the birth of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel – connects the Unity Statue to Kevadia on the Sabarmati River, 200 km away. The seaplane service was started by the airline SpiceJet.
Modi also inaugurated an airfield on the water along the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad. It is one of a series of water aerodromes planned to bring last mile connectivity to the country.
Earlier, during his remarks on the occasion of Sardar Patel’s birthday, Modi said: “Today, a seaplane service from the Sardar Sarovar to the shore of the Sabarmati river will also be launched. see the statue of unity, compatriots will now also have the option of seaplane. All these efforts will give tourism in this area a big boost. “
