Appreciation for statement by President Joko Widodo, ICW: should be a reprimand for Menkumham
PEOPLE’S PEOPLE – Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) said that President Joko Widodo’s statement stressed that he was not releasing corrupt prisoners due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to ICW, this should be a reprimand from the Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.
“This should be a strong warning to the Minister of Justice and Human Rights to no longer plan for pro-corrupt policies,” said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in her statement on Monday April 6, 2020.

According to Kurnia, Yasonna should not speak out to free the corrupt prisoners. Especially in the middle of the state of the nation that is currently facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
Even based on ICW records, this is not the first time that Yasonna has issued a pro-convicted statement against corrupt convicts.
Kurnia said that from 2015 to 2020, eight statements by Jason had led to a reduced sentence for corrupt prisoners.
