Every few years we see opposition parties forging an alliance to “bring democracy back to the country”. It started with the MRD, the Movement for the Restoration of Democracy, in February 1981, under the Zia regime. Then came the ARD, the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy, in December 2000 – just over a year after General Pervez Musharraf took control of the country. Seven years later, in July 2007 to be exact, anti-Musharraf political parties joined forces to form a Pakistani Democratic Movement, or APDM. Interestingly today’s bitter rivals Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif were both part of the APDM.
And now we have the PDM, the Pakistani democratic movement, even though there is no dictatorship in the country – unlike all the past alliances that were supposed to send the dictator racing – to justify the opposition parties of to start a movement. to overthrow the government. But the leaders of the PDM, an alliance of 11 parties, say they want to rid the Pakistani people of an “incompetent” government and establish a “real” democracy in the country. The anti-government alliance – led by JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, and having PML-N and PPP in its fold – has already had a few public rallies and plans to hold a few more before marching on the capital. and to stage a sit-in there until Prime Minister Imran Khan submits his resignation.
On Tuesday, the PDM unveiled a “Pakistan Charter” which lists 12 goals that the alliance says should be pursued if Pakistan is to become a truly democratic country. While none of the charter’s 12 points can be challenged, how the PDM plans to pursue them is where the criticism comes in. Instead of hitting the streets in protest – especially in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic – to trigger political chaos, affecting the economy, the opposition is better off adopting the negotiating mode. After all, how long will politics in our country keep going in circles?

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
