More than 2.6 crore families with drinking water connection under JJM: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that more than 2.6 million crore families had been connected to potable water through pipelines for a year and a half since the start of the Jal Jeevan mission.

“In the year and a half since the start of the Jal Jeevan mission, more than 2 million families of 60 million lakh have been connected to drinking water from their homes, including thousands of families in the ‘Uttar Pradesh,’ Prime Minister Modi said.

The prime minister, by videoconference on Sunday, laid the foundation stone for rural drinking water supply projects in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra districts in Vindhyachal region in Uttar Pradesh.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also attended the occasion. The Prime Minister also interacted with the village water and sanitation committee during the event.

“Despite several rivers, these areas were known to be the thirstiest and most drought-stricken and have forced many people to migrate. Now the water scarcity and irrigation problems will be solved by these projects and that means rapid development, ”Prime Minister Modi said.

The prime minister pointed out that when running water reaches thousands of villages in Vindhyanchal, the health of children in this region will be improved and their physical and mental development will be better.

He said that when one gets the freedom to make decisions and to work on those decisions for the development of the village, it increases the confidence of everyone in the village. He added that Autonomous India derives its strength from Autonomous Villages.

Projects benefiting 2,995 villages

Projects that are expected to be completed in 24 months are estimated to cost Rs 5,555.38 crore. The projects, when completed, will connect households to tap water in all rural households in 2,995 villages and will benefit approximately 42 lakh in these districts. Village Water and Sanitation Committees / Paani Samiti have been formed in all these villages which will be responsible for operation and maintenance under the project. The “Jal Jeevan Mission”, under which the projects were planned, was announced by the Prime Minister on August 15 last year. The projects aim to provide functional connections to every rural house in the country by 2024.

The prime minister also spoke about the efforts to increase the tribal population of the area and said that projects are reaching the tribal areas under special projects. Hundreds of Eklavya model schools are operating in these regions, including Uttar Pradesh, he added.

“The goal is to provide this facility to every majority tribal block. Projects based on forest products are also being implemented. The District Mining Fund was created so that there is no shortage of funds for tribal areas and the thinking behind such is that part of the resources generated by these areas is invested locally ”, did he declare.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless.
