We must keep Pennsylvania red and re-elect Donald Trump | Opinion

The Pennsylvanians took a different direction in 2016, voting Republican for President for the first time since 1984. They were widely rewarded for this decision.

The Democratic Party dominated presidential politics in the state of Keystone, but times have changed millions of forgotten Pennsylvania workers turned to Donald Trump after being disappointed by Democratic politicians who didn’t still haven't kept their promises. For almost 10 years, our state has experienced one of the weakest economic recoveries in history. President Obama told us to accept economic decline as the new norm.

But President Trump has given the Commonwealth hope that he hasn't felt for decades. We are now in the midst of a blue collar boom that has lifted our friends and neighbors out of poverty and restored their dignity through work. Our economic engine is booming because President Trump and Republicans in Congress cut taxes for the middle class, saving Pennsylvania workers an average of $ 1,427 on their federal income taxes in 2018. Additionally, the President's elimination of Obama-era regulations has resulted in massive growth, particularly in the energy sector.

By the end of Obamas' presidency, the number of jobs in the oil and gas industries had shrunk by 32 percent, but things quickly changed when Donald Trump took office. In 2018, Pennsylvanias' natural gas production resumed unprecedented heights. As a result, the Pennsylvanians no longer depend on foreign nations to heat their homes and they are back at work to produce natural gas for sale abroad, as America is now the largest exporter of 39; energy to the world.

Other sectors of the energy industry are also booming. Splitting, which supports thousands of jobs and generates tens of billions of dollars in economic activity in our state, has particularly benefited from the President's commitment to eliminate harmful regulations.

Speaking of exports, President Trump has successfully negotiated better trade deals that favor American workers with some of our major trading partners. He promised to end the failure of the North American free trade agreement that has shipped so many jobs in Pennsylvania to Mexico and Canada, and the ink is now dries when replaced, the United States-Mexico-Canada agreement. The president has also pledged to stand up to China for its unfair trading practices, and he recently signed the Phase One agreement which is a first step towards rebalancing US-China trade relations. Future trade deals with Britain and the European Union will pay even more to working families.

As one would expect, all of these economic successes have had a transformative effect on the Keystone State. The unemployment rate in Pennsylvanias has tumbled. In fact, our manufacturing, construction, and mining the sectors are all better off today than they were barely three years ago, a clear sign that the economic policies of this administration are achieving the results promised by the president.

Of course, the current blue collar boom extends far beyond the Commonwealth. Nationally, the poorest 50% of employees have 47 percent increase in their net worth since 2017, exceeding the wealth accumulation of the richest 1%. Median household income increased by more than $ 5,000, an all-time high. Workers now know bigger salary growth as their managers and supervisors. The President noted this at a recent rally when he said: Under the Trump economy, the lowest paid workers reap the fastest earnings from anyone!

In addition, the Council of Economic Advisers recently Highlighted that the total net worth of nonprofits and households in America increased by more than $ 12 trillion in the first 11 quarters under President Trump, a new economic record.

Remarkably, the Democrats are telling workers that they are not much better off. Nancy Pelosi tore a copy of the President's recent speech on the state of the Union, calling it a manifesto of false truths. His desire for power and his contempt for this president led his party to deny the obvious fact that it has been the best American economy in half a century.

Instead of working with Republicans to build on this success, they want to repeal and reverse the policies that brought us here, throwing quirks along the way. We cannot let this happen. The Americans finally have a president who keeps his promises and believes in them, and he now promises that the best is yet to come.

If we continue these policies, he will be right. We have to keep Pennsylvania red and re-elect President Donald Trump in November. He defends our values and fights harder than any previous president to make America – and the Keystone State – great again.

Mike Kelly is an American representative from the Pennsylvanias 16th Congressional District and is seeking re-election.
